ABOUT US

The Indonesia Spirit of Service Foundation (Yayasan Berbakti Semangat Indonesia, or YBSI) is a non-profit and non-governmental organization dedicated to expanding economic opportunity and trade-driven development in Indonesia. Through policy research, entrepreneurship support, and stakeholder engagement, YBSI works to strengthen U.S. -Indonesia economic ties, attract investment, and advance policies that drive sustainable growth.

YBSI is founded by a group of prominent Indonesian businessmen led by Mr. Erwin Aksa, senior vice president of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (Kadin) and a member of parliament in the current governing coalition, and Mr. Anindya Bakrie, president of Kadin Indonesia. Erwin Aksa

Chair, Board of trustee

Erwin Aksa is a respected businessman and politician who currently serves as a Member of Parliament representing DKI Jakarta III. He was elected in 2024 with 186,897 votes. As a leading figure in Indonesian politics, he served as Deputy Chairman for Strategic Mobilization in the Golkar Party, advocating for economic inclusivity and entrepreneurial growth.

Erwin is also the Vice President Commissioner of Bosowa Corporation, a company with interests in cement, automotive, and infrastructure. A graduate in Economics from the University of Pittsburgh, USA, his expertise bridges the realms of business and governance. Known for his tenure as Chairman of HIPMI (2008–2011), Erwin has consistently championed youth entrepreneurship. As the nephew of Jusuf Kalla, Indonesia’s former Vice President, Erwin’s legacy is deeply rooted in public service and national development.

DR.IR.E Herman Khaeron. MSI,

Member of Board of Trustees

Dr. Ir. E. Herman Khaeron, M.Si., is an accomplished Indonesian politician and academic. He completed his undergraduate studies in Industrial Engineering at Universitas Islam Bandung in 1996. He later earned a Master’s degree in Marine Technology from the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB) in 2007 and a Doctorate in Agricultural Sciences with cum laude honors from Padjadjaran University in 2016. His doctoral dissertation focused on developing food diversification models to support national food security in West Java. Throughout his career, Herman has been actively involved in various organizations, including serving as the General Chairman of the Indonesian Fisheries Society and the Indonesian Seed and Breeding Society. In the political arena, he has held multiple terms as a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), representing the Democratic Party, and has served in leadership roles within several parliamentary commissions.

Kamrussamad,

Kamrussamad is an Indonesian politician affiliated with the Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra). He serves as a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), representing the Jakarta III electoral district, which includes North Jakarta, West Jakarta, and the Thousand Islands. In his legislative role, Kamrussamad focuses on issues related to finance, national development planning, banking, and non-bank financial institutions. He is also known for his active involvement in various social and community development initiatives within his constituency.

H. Sharif Cicip Sutardjo

Chair of the Board of Supervisors

H. Sharif Cicip Sutardjo is an Indonesian politician who has held several significant positions in government. He served as the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries from 2011 to 2014 under President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s administration. Prior to that, he was the Deputy Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries from 2009 to 2011. Sharif is a member of the Golkar Party and has been actively involved in various organizational roles, including serving as the Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) for the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries sector. His tenure as minister was marked by efforts to promote sustainable fisheries and improve the welfare of coastal communities.

Andi A Mallarangeng

Andi Alfian Mallarangeng is an Indonesian academic and politician known for his contributions to public policy and government. He earned his Ph.D. in political science from Northern Illinois University in the United States. Andi has held several key positions, including serving as the Presidential Spokesperson during President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s administration. He was appointed as the Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs from 2009 until his resignation in 2012. Prior to his political career, Andi was a lecturer and researcher, contributing to various studies on political science and governance in Indonesia.

Mulya Amri

Mulya Amri, ST., MA.

Chair

Mulya Amri is a public policy specialist and member of the expert panel at Katadata Insight Center, based in Jakarta. He advises multiple teams of researchers and data analysts from project inception to delivery on topics related to economics, business, and public policy, including digitalization.

Mulya has co-written 20 books and book chapters, mostly on subnational competitiveness, urban development, and governance. He also has 20 years of experience working with government officials, businesses, and civil society groups in Indonesia, Singapore, Brunei, the Philippines, China, and the U.S. Mulya has a Ph. D in public policy from the National University of Singapore, a Master’s in urban planning from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a bachelor’s degree from Institut Teknologi Bandung, Indonesia.

Harry Warganegara

Treasurer

Harry Warganegara is a seasoned Indonesian financial executive who has held influential roles in both international and domestic financial institutions, including National Westminster Bank, Bear Stearns, and Bank PDFCI. With deep expertise in investment banking, corporate restructuring, and mergers and acquisitions, he has shaped key financial strategies within Indonesia’s economic sector. In 2020, he was appointed President Director of PT Berdikari, a state-owned enterprise, where he has overseen efforts in revitalizing the company’s operations and strategic direction. Harry’s leadership continues to position him as a key player in Indonesia’s corporate governance and state enterprise reform.

Dian Annisa Fitrianti

Deputy Treasurer

Holds a postgraduate degree in Science Communication from the University of Indonesia, with professional experience at Fox Indonesia, a prominent political consulting firm, where she was responsible for managing strategic campaign projects for both presidential and regional elections. Currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Trinisyah Ersa Pratama Group, a holding company overseeing a diverse portfolio of business sectors, including trading and retail.

Dara Adinda Kesuma Nasution

Deputy Treasurer

Dara Nasution currently serves on the transition team for Makassar’s Mayor-elect, Munafri Arifuddin, focusing on youth empowerment and technology-driven governance. She holds a Master of Public Policy from the University of Oxford and is also an alumna of the University of Indonesia.

She previously served as Manager for Politics and Government Outreach at Meta Platforms Inc., spearheading digital transformation initiatives across the Asia-Pacific region. In 2024, Dara played a key role in Golkar’s legislative campaign, the Prabowo-Gibran presidential campaign, and the Makassar mayoral election, leading digital strategies that contributed significantly to their successes.

Andi Zulkarnain

Choel Mallarangeng (Andi) is an Indonesian businessman and political consultant known for co-founding Fox Indonesia, a prominent political consulting firm, and serving as the former president director of Vivanews.com. With a background in political science from Gadjah Mada University and an MBA in marketing from IPMI, Choel began his career in corporate management before transitioning to political strategy.

Aswin Tomo Andi Lolo

Deputy Treasurer

Aswin Tomo Andi Lolo is an experienced economic and business leader with a strong background in entrepreneurship, organizational leadership, and public policy. A graduate of Hasanuddin University’s Faculty of Economics (1998), he began his leadership journey as Chairman of the Islamic Torajan Youth and Student Association (1992–1995).

Over the years, he has held key roles in organizations such as HIPMI, Kadin Indonesia, and Golkar South Sulawesi, focusing on BUMN collaboration, MSME development, and the creative industry. A graduate of the Lemhannas-HIPMI leadership program (2010), he now serves as Chairman of BPD HIPPI South Sulawesi, continuing to drive regional economic growth and innovation.
